“Demon Slayer” Celebrates Over Three Million Disc Sales

The official website of the “Demon Slayer” franchise recently announced that more than three million DVDs and Blu-rays of the anime adaptation have been sold in Japan.

A Remarkable Achievement in Changing Times

In recent years, the rise of streaming services has revolutionized how we consume anime. This shift has led to a steady decline in physical media sales, such as DVDs and Blu-rays. Even highly anticipated titles like “Chainsaw Man” “Solo Leveling,” and “Kaiju No. 8” haven’t been immune to this trend. However, “Demon Slayer” stands out as a remarkable exception.

As one of the most popular anime series, particularly among younger viewers, “Demon Slayer” has not only dominated TV ratings and streaming rankings but has also translated that success into impressive physical media sales. This popularity is now clearly reflected in the milestone of over three million DVDs and Blu-rays sold.

Detailed Sales Figures and Upcoming Releases

This milestone was announced in conjunction with the release of the second volume of “Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc.” The sales figures break down as follows:

    • “Mugen Train” film: 1,990,000 copies
    • TV series: 940,000 copies
    • Other releases: 73,000 copies

“Demon Slayer” is also enjoying great popularity in the German-speaking market. The first season and the “Mugen Train” film are already available on DVD and Blu-ray through peppermint anime. The publisher plans to continue releasing the second season later this year, with the third season set to follow next year.

This success demonstrates that “Demon Slayer” is not just a phenomenon of the streaming era but also maintains a strong presence in the traditional disc market.
